Volleyball: RULES AND REGULATIONS

The following rules have been designed to ensure fair play for all participants. Each player is expected to understand these rules prior to participation in the tournament. Any questions concerning these rules should be directed to the SoFlo Event Staff.

PRIOR TO THE GAME:

EACH TEAM ENTERED IN THE TOURAMENT MUST SUBMIT THE $80.00 TOURNAMENT FEE

(In theory, a church may enter 2 teams and would have to submit $160.00 or $80.00 for each team)

Each Team MUST be in matching uniform tops. This will make it easier for the referee, court monitor or SoFlo Official to judge. Uniform exceptions must be approved by a SoFlo official in writing, and presented to the tournament director within 30 days of the competition.

Age Groups:

  • JV: 14-18 years old
  • Varsity: 19 years and older

Volleyball Rules

Co-ed teams.  Each team is allowed to have 10 players, with 6 on court at a time.  Each player must rotate one position clockwise every time their team wins back service from the opposition.  A team can touch the ball three times on its side of the net.  Teams can also try to block the opponent's spike as it crosses the net.  A block into your own court doesn't count as one of the three touches.  Only the three players at the net position can jump and spike or block near the net. The backcourt players can only hit the ball over the net if they jump from behind the attack line, also known as the three-meter line, which separates the front and back part of the court. Rally point system will be use, teams can score a point on every play regardless of which team served. Matches are played best of three sets, each set is to 25 points.  A team must win a set by two points.  There is no ceiling, so a set continues until one of the teams gains a two point advantage.
